2. Dementia

When we think of dogs or other animals acting strangely, most people probably think it could be a result of a rabies infection. While rabies can certainly make animals act strangely, it is not the only cause of unexplained behavior in dogs. Older dogs are especially at risk for dementia, a condition that’s often brought on by Alzheimer’s disease in humans. Approximately 50 percent of dogs that are over the age of 11 years suffer from some symptoms of dementia and that number rockets up to 68 percent for dogs that are over 15 years old.
