8. Sex Bracelets

Perhaps it is just a desire to shock and cause distress among parents and other adults that give birth to rumors like this. The myth claims that some teens girls are wearing colored bracelets which indicate what type of sexual activity they are willing to engage in. If a boy removes the bracelet from a girl, he is awarded a “coupon” that can be presented to the girl in exchange for the act in question. Many parents, as expected, were quite alarmed, and the bracelets were even banned in some schools in response.  It’s likely that this urban myth was born out of idle gossip and the imaginations of bored teens.
