Way back before we enjoyed the benefits of modern medicine, Indian doctors used the heads of ants to “stitch” wounds closed. They would hold the ant until it bit into the patient and pinched the wound closed. Then they would separate the ant’s body from its head, leaving it’s jaws clamped to the wound, holding it closed to facilitate healing.
