We’re not sure how many people have actually seen a dog faint, but we suspect it is probably a very small minority. Fainting, or syncope is most often a result of reduced blood flow to the brain which causes loss of consciousness followed by spontaneous recovery. Fainting can be an indication of numerous medical conditions, some of which could be serious. Not surprisingly, fainting is something that is more common on older dogs and breeds such as boxers, Cocker spaniels, dachshunds, German shepherds, miniature schnauzers, and pugs are more susceptible.
