The types of people who take playing chess seriously are not usually the same types of people you’ll see in a boxing ring. The existence of the World Chess Boxing Association proves that these kinds of assumptions are not always accurate. This bizarre sport features two individuals who face off for two minutes in the boxing ring followed by four minutes of battle on the chess board. Victory can be achieved by knocking out your opponent in the boxing ring or with a checkmate on the chess board. We wonder if numerous blows to the head have any effect on a competitors’ ability to think clearly enough to play chess!
