This one shows up in a wide range of personal care products including antiperspirants, deodorants, cleansers, soaps, laundry detergents, facial tissues and antiseptics. It is used mostly as and antibacterial agent and is able to penetrate the skin and interfere with hormone production, meaning it is yet another endocrine disruptor. In addition to being harmful to the environment, triclosan may also be partly responsible for the development of bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics. A trend that has many health experts extremely worried.
