3. DEA

DEA or diethanolamine is used in the manufacture of many cosmetics in order to make them “lather up,” or give them a smoother texture. It’s commonly used in sunscreens and moisturizers, while other variants of DEA are used in soaps, shampoos and conditioners. Scientists have found that it can cause liver cancer when given in large doses to lab animals.
