This may be the most bizarre of the whole bunch. Certain species of jellyfish have a compound in them that makes them glow in the dark. The compound is believed to have qualities that could allow it to be used to make a new kind of fuel cell. Scientists at at The Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden have already used the compound, called GFP, to produce small amounts of electricity.
