The popularity of online dating websites has really given these scam artists a nice boost. They get online and pretend that they have really fallen in love with their potential victim. They know how to tell their lonely victims exactly what they want to hear. Once they build up a certain level of trust, they begin coming up with reasons to ask the victim for money. Some cat fishing scammers have been wildly successful, convincing victims to send them hundreds of thousands of dollars. The unfortunate victims are left with a broken heart and a damaged bank account when the scam artist finally finishes with them.
