These scams are more “old school” in the sense that they often involve the scam artist going right to their victim’s door. Some of the more common scams include offering to pave the homeowner’s driveway or do some maintenance work on their home. One scam that played out here recently in the U.S. involved the scam artists going to homes and telling the homeowners that there were snakes in their basement. To prove their point, they would go down into the homeowner’s basement and emerge with a bag of snakes. What they hope the homeowner doesn’t realize is that the scam artist brought the bag of snakes in with them. These kinds of scams often target elderly homeowners.
