Apparently, it would have taken more than one pistol-packing saloon owner to take out the 26th President of The United States. While at a campaign stop in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Roosevelt was shot by a man named John Flammang Schrank. Thanks to a steel eyeglass case and a folded up speech in his pocket, the bullet did not fully penetrate Roosevelt’s chest. He went on to deliver his 90-minute speech with blood seeping through his shirt. It was later determined that it would be best to simply leave the bullet in place rather than attempt to remove it, and Roosevelt lived out the rest of his days with it.
