Just about anyone who has watched TV for the last decade or so know what an IED is. For the two people left on the planet that do not, it stands for “improvised explosive device.” It’s the make-shift bombs that have been used so successfully in the various Middle East wars to blow up military vehicles. We’re not privy to the reasons anyone would have something called an “IED Training Kit” in their possession, but it is probably safe to assume that military or law enforcement agencies use such things to train munitions specialists. Whoever it was that was trying to lug this thing onto a plane in Honolulu apparently had not been through the training, or had just suffered a pretty good blow to the head, because the stuff in the kit looks just like the real thing.
