When an insecure device is located, the network traffic being broadcast by the device can be “sniffed” or captured using special software. It’s quite common for usernames, passwords and other personal information to be carried on wi-fi data connections as people use their laptops and mobile devices in their homes and offices. Always make sure any wi-fi routers or modems you use have the encryption feature turned on and use a secure password for it. Using birthdays, names of your children, your pets or nicknames does not constitute a secure password.
