We store an amazing amount of information on our computers and mobile devices these days. What many people do not realize is that they may also being throwing away a treasure trove of information when they discard an old PC or smart phone. Even if you format hard drives before getting rid of your PC, someone with the right knowledge and access to computer forensic software can often retrieve the data you thought was deleted. Be absolutely sure all your data has been deleted before you discard that old PC. You can physically destroy the hard drives or use special software that will delete every file and then erase it completely by writing new data over the entire disk.
