Users who attempt to use the “hacked” ATM will think the machine is out of order when it refuses to dispense cash, but the hardware installed by the criminals has already captured the details they want from the magnetic strip on the victim’s debit or credit card. These cases are a good indicator of just how valuable this information is to these high-tech thieves.
