The most common targets for thieves are potted plants that may be placed outdoors to enhance the landscape. Although a plant might not be something you typically think of as a hot item on the black market, some varieties of cacti and some species of orchids can cost $1,000 or more, making them attractive to buyers who would rather avoid the higher prices at the traditional retail outlets. And we thought crimes involving plants just included the varieties that can be smoked.
