This one looks more like something you would chase around the house and step on than it does something you would want to eat. It looks a bit like a cherry with spiky little hairs on it. The interior looks a lot like an eyeball, adding a bit to its obvious visual appeal. The tree that produces it is native to Indonesia and Malaysia and the fruit is commonly used for making jellies and jams. The interior of the Rambutan is described as sweet and sour with a somewhat gummy consistency, a bit like an eyeball perhaps. Actually, we’re not really down on Rambutan and we’d actually give it a try if we happen across it some day. It’s a super food because, well, it looks like it should some kind of animal, and it also contains lots of vitamins and minerals such as iron, magnesium, potassium, manganese and zinc.
