3. Kiwano

At first glance it looks a bit like a medieval weapon of war. With its roundish shape and distinctive spikes, Kiwano offers a treat for the eyes due to it’s deep orange exterior and lime-green interior. Described as having a taste that is a cross between zucchini, cucumber, kiwi and banana, it has to be an interesting (and confusing) experience for the palette. It’s a fairly common food in Africa and is also used for decorative purposes. Kiwano is an excellent source of vitamins C and A, and also contains potassium.
