Around the middle of the last century everything disposable started to come into fashion. Many new disposable products were good ideas and are still with us today, such as paper plates, plastic utensils and various medical supplies. Although futurists at the time envisioned us all wearing disposable paper clothing in the not-so-distant future, they obviously missed the mark rather widely with that one.
