6. Flying Tiger Line Flight 739

Flying Tiger Line was once a cargo airline and contractor for the U.S. military. In 1962 the company’s flight 739 was flying over the Pacific Ocean when it disappeared. The aircraft was carrying 11 crew and 96 military personnel when it vanished. One of the largest and most extensive search and rescue missions in the history of the Pacific was launched, although no trace of the plane or its passengers or crew members was ever found. A cargo ship sailing in the Pacific reported seeing something fall from the sky that appeared to be on fire which fueled speculation that flight 739 exploded in flight.
