3. Slipped Disc

A fairly common cause of back problems in people is a slipped disc – a condition that results when one or more of the disc-shaped “cushions” that lie in between the vertebrae that make up the spinal column bursts or bulges. This causes pain and discomfort, and can also result in nerve damage and even paralysis. This condition is more risky for some breeds than it so for others, and places the Basset Hound, Beagle, Dachshund, and Shih Tzu at higher risk.
