2. Hippopotamuses, Africa

The hippo is one of the largest and most dangerous animals in Africa, but even these massive beasts are no match for poisoned water. Approximately 300 hippopotamuses died in the African nation of Uganda after drinking from a water source that had been contaminated with anthrax. The 2004 event is not the type that is unheard of in that region, since water sources frequently become contaminated with anthrax. During 2010, another incident killed about 82 hippos and and nine water buffalo under similar circumstances.
