If asked what the deadliest insect in the world was, many would probably offer up bees, fire ants, hornets or some other stinging critters, when in fact it is the humble mosquito. The disease that is spread by mosquitoes dwarfs all other insects and every other animal when it comes to the toll they take on human life. it is estimated that mosquito-borne disease is responsible for up to two million deaths per year.
