9. Vostok Station, Antarctica

You knew that no list of the extreme weather on earth would be complete without the inclusion of Antarctica. This continent at the very bottom of our planet is where the absolute coldest temperatures on the face of the earth have been recorded. On July 21, 1983, a temperature of –128.6F was recorded at the scientific research station there. We’re not sure who they hired to build the station, but whomever it was had to be either very tough or quite insane.
