In some cases money can prove itself to be a curse. This appears to be the case for Toth who won $13 million from the Florida Lottery in 1990. Toth and her husband wasted no time spending their winnings and were charged with tax evasion in 2006. Soon they were living in poverty, powering their home with electricity generated by an automobile engine. Toth’s husband died while they were awaiting trial and Mrs. Toth was sentenced to two years in prison and ordered to pay $1.1 million to the government.
