Why this particular collection was once included among the exhibits at Japan’s Museum of Literature is anyone’s guess. We certainly would not be presumptuous enough to assume that Japanese literature is comparable to excrement. Perhaps the danger of that potential association by those unfamiliar with Japanese literature was the reason it has since been closed. While it was open, the collection featured feces that apparently was carelessly discarded by animals such as rabbits, zebras, giraffes and elephants.
