We have all done it at least once or twice – except perhaps, for those who are just too goody two-shoes to even consider such a thing. We’re talking about calling in sick to work when you are not really sick. Some people call them “mental health days,” and use a day off to just take a break from the routine and recharge their batteries. Like so many other things in life, there are people that do their best to ruin a good thing for the rest of us. Even employers probably accept the fact that people call in sick once in a while just to have a day off, but some employees push their luck too far by calling in and using a very stupid excuse for not coming to work. Here are some of the stupidest excuses people have actually used to take a day off from work.

Dogs have a reputation as trouble makers, or at least that’s what you might think if you consider some of the most common excuses. Someone actually said they were not able to come to work because the dog ate their shoes!
