Abe Lincoln, who may be the most famous bearded president of all time, only decided to grow out his facial hair after he got some advice from an 11-year-old girl. Grace Bedell of New York wrote to the Commander-in-Chief regarding the idea of a beard and informed him that, “You would look a great deal better, for your face is so thin.” Apparently, he believed she was onto something.
