Although it’s unclear how this “conflict” could be considered a war, it is listed as among the world’s longest in history. It seems that The Netherlands and the inhabitants of the Isles of Scilly certainly didn’t get along. In fact, their “war” lasted for an incredible 335 years! The one aspect of the war that rather diminishes its historical importance was that not a single shot was ever fired during the entire time. Peace finally broke out in 1986 when a treaty agreement was signed, although one might rightly wonder why they even bothered.
