The people of the Padaung Tribe in of Myanmar and Thailand consider long necks a thing of great beauty, and they take extraordinary measures to promote that in females starting at an early age. When girls are five years of age, a brass coil is placed around the neck. As she grows, the coil is replaced with another one which gradually moves the collarbone down and creates the illusion of a long neck.
