5. Sugar Glider

You want unusual? Well it may be hard to beat the sugar glider. Even their name is weird! These tiny little animals get their name from their behavior in the wild where they glide from tree to tree and feed on the sap. They are native to Australia and are said to be very playful, and can even learn tricks. Like the hedgehog, sugar gliders are nocturnal so don’t be surprised when they sleep most of the day and decide it’s time to get up and play after dark when you want to go to bed.
