7. World’s Largest Ball of Twine

Although it’s uncertain that there was any logical reason to set about creating the largest ball of twine in the world, the idea took off sometime during the 1950’s when a man in Cawker City, Kansas decided to get the ball rolling, so to speak. To this day, the ball continues to expand in size as people add to it regularly, and there’s even an annual festival to celebrate the achievement.
