These scams are the the type that also bring the scammers right to your door. They will represent themselves as an employee for a utility like a power or water company or even a cable TV or satellite repairman. All these scammers want is to get into the house. From there they will manipulate their victims into giving them access to certain areas of the house unsupervised, and that’s when the damage is done. The scam artists will scoop up whatever valuables they can slip into their pockets such as jewelry and cash.
