8. Pervez Musharraf

It’s not easy being the a Pakistani dictator. Just ask Pervez Musharraf, the man who took over Pakistan by way of a military coup in 1999. That is the kind of move that tends to make a lot of people unhappy with you, and Musharraf endured his share of assassination attempts. His closest call came on December 25, 2003 when two suicide bombers operating explosive-laden cars maneuvered as close to Musharraf as possible and detonated their rolling bombs. Although 16 others were killed as a result, Musharraf somehow escaped without a scratch.
