In some Asian cultures it is considered perfectly ordinary to eat various types of insects, or even spiders. Silkworms are among the unfortunate insects that people have taken a liking to in sufficient numbers to make canning them as they exist in their pupal stage a profitable venture. They are said to have a crunchy exterior with a soft creamy center. Yum.
