From the land down under we learn about an insect that has been a staple in the Aboriginal diet for a very long time. We’ve probably all seen people on television eating insects such as ants, crickets and other varieties of grubs, but the Wichetty grub takes grub consumption to a whole new level! These grubs live underground and feed on various roots, such as those of the wichetty bush, for which they are obviously named. What makes them striking when it comes to dining on them is their size. Wichetty grubs may grow to be nearly 5 inches long! Popping an ant or cricket into one’s mouth is child’s play compared to chomping down on one of these juicy, plump critters.
