Although some of us may delight in poking fun at the unusual cuisine of other cultures, this one comes from right here in the United States. Associated mostly with the state of Kentucky, dropped fowl involves hanging a (presumably dead) chicken or other fowl with a string around its neck. It is left until it is “just right.” In other words, when it decomposes enough so that the body detaches itself from the head and falls to the floor. We’re not sure how people get away with eating these kinds of things without becoming violently ill, but perhaps we humans are tougher than we look.
