Two chemicals found in feces contribute significantly to the foul odor that usually accompanies a good, healthy bowel movement. They are called indole and skatole, which are kind of what you might expect those kinds of chemicals to be called. Believe it or not, they are used in the manufacture of perfumes. We don’t know why and we would rather just forget that we ever heard that.
