9. Ear Candling

Sticking a candle in your ear and lighting it sounds like a pretty nutty idea, and it turns out that it is! Some people think that this is a process that will help clear wax from the ears and just generally give them a good cleaning. In fact, it probably has more potential to do harm than good. Burns from hot wax are a possibility as well as the risk of setting things on fire. There is no evidence to suggest that this treatment is of any use whatsoever.
