Who hasn’t experienced the frustration of a toilet that simply lacks the power to perform a proper flush? Not surprisingly, wimpy toilets are the result of an effort to conserve water and protect the environment. That’s all well and good, but manufacturers don’t seem to realize then when you gotta flush, you gotta flush, and weak toilets probably end up wasting more water than an older-style toilet since more flushes are required to get the job done. A clever company came up with a product called the Flushmate that supercharged these wimpy “green” toilets and restored the flushing power that is often required. Unfortunately, the devices caused the toilets to build up too much power, resulting in exploding toilets! Some toilet explosions even resulted in minor injuries and the devices we recalled in 2012.
