While the technology that guides missiles and “smart” bombs to their target has improved significantly in recent decades, U.S. military planners once considered using pigeons to guide them. The idea was to train the birds to identify targets on a TV screen inside the weapon and peck at them which would control the weapons trajectory and land it right on target.
