This was actually kind of an interesting idea that the British military hatched during World War II to make gigantic aircraft carriers using massive sheets of ice. Why go through all the trouble of building a conventional aircraft carrier when there was all kinds of ice floating around in arctic regions waiting to be used? As it turned out, the project turned out to be too expensive and the idea fell by the wayside.
