So you think this little guy got its name because it has dark-colored feathers or likes to come out at night? Wrong on both counts. This bird has developed a ghoulish habit of drinking the blood of other birds! It sneaks up on them, grabs on tight to another bird and gives it a few jabs with its sharp beak and drinks the blood that drains from the wound. Fortunately for other birds all over the world, this pint-sized vampire’s range is limited to the isolated Galapagos Islands.
