6. Hold the Hugs

While we consider hugs to be an act of affection, the natural instinct of a dog is that a hug is a sign of someone trying to demonstrate dominance over them. While it may be perfectly OK for dog owners to hug their dogs since they tend to be pretty content with their role as pets, it might not be too smart to lay a bear hug on a dog that doesn’t know you well.
