Most people end up swallowing about a quart of mucous every day. A lot of it drains out of the sinuses and down into the digestive system where it seems to do no harm. While it’s pretty disgusting to think about downing a glass of mucous, even if it were our own, it’s something we are doing pretty much every day and just don’t realize it.
