In Portugal there is a superstition regarding contact between pregnant women and furry pets such as dogs and cats. It is believed that contact with animals like that can cause the baby to be too hairy. Now we know those guys we see at the beach with more hair on their backs than a grizzly bear probably had mothers who worked for or owned a pet grooming business.
