Although not an actual diet, the practice of wearing corsets has been with us for hundreds of years and it does wonders to to trim the figure despite the health risks. During the 16th century, the wife of king Henry II of France kept her “ladies in waiting” looking svelte by forcing them to wear corsets that were made from wood, steel and ivory. The corsets were worn so tight that they could sometimes cause the women to faint due to lack of oxygen. The constant compression of organs such as the stomach and bladder also caused discomfort and health problems.
