Fortunately, it is possible for their scent glands to be removed which will means they will be dependent on humans for the rest of their lives, and will not be eligible for release into the wild if someone grows tired of keeping them as a pet. They are said to be quite playful and fairly low maintenance since they are pretty good at entertaining themselves a lot of the time.
