These kinds of tattoos may suggest that the inmate simply likes to gamble, in the real sense, as with money, or that he considers life itself to be a gamble. In Russian prisons, there is often meaning associated with each card in the deck. For example, hearts may mean that the inmate is seeking a romantic partner in prison and very likely did not have that particular tattoo applied by choice.
