9. Peckerwood

Using something as innocuous-looking as a woodpecker may seem an unlikely choice for a hard core criminal gang member, but that is exactly what you will see on some inmates who wish to identify with “white power.” At one time, some blacks in the south identified with the blackbird and referred to whites as “noisy woodpeckers.” Apparently, some white supremacists embrace the association and are happy to brand themselves with woodpecker tattoos that read “100% Wood” or simply “PW” to symbolize white pride.
